This beautiful natural and raw crystal gemstone is named after the Amazon River in Brazil where it was first believed to have been discovered thousands of years ago. It is said to have been used as far back as the 10th century B.C. by the semi-mythical Amazons, a tribe of powerful female warriors who used them to decorate their shields.
 
The stone is a microcline Feldspar, a type of stone that forms during the cooling of orthoclase and forms in masses or tabular crystals and therefore you could see plains of flash like you would in Rainbow Moonstone and Labradorite.
